The level of funding which is available to you is determined by the type and length of the opportunity that you are taking part in. Below is a list of funding opportunities available to you but it's always a good idea to do your own research and find more options.
Please be aware that no funding opportunity is guaranteed and you should not rely on grants or scholarships to fund your time studying or working overseas.
Turing Scheme
The Turing Scheme is the UK government’s programme to provide funding for international opportunities in education and training across the world. Subject to the success of our annual institutional bid, we'll aim to provide support to students undertaking international study or work placements as part of their programme of study.

Global Experience Bursary
The University of Westminster offers funding to support undergraduate and postgraduate students in undertaking short-term study, research, work, or volunteering opportunities abroad. The funding is in place to ensure that all students, regardless of their programme of study or their personal situation can receive support to help them achieve an international experience.

International exchange
If you are going on an exchange that is not funded through Erasmus+, then you can apply for a £500 scholarship from the British Universities and Transatlantic Exchange Association (BUTEX). Find out how to apply on the BUTEX website.
Student Finance England travel grant
You may be eligible for a travel grant to cover the cost of any necessary travel and expenses related to you studying or working abroad as part of your degree.
You'll have to fund the first £303 of travel yourself, but above that Student Finance England will cover the rest of the cost. The grant also covers other costs like as visas, vaccinations and medical insurance.
You can apply for your travel grant from Student Finance England, which will then send you a travel grant application form. Please note that students who are classed as disadvantaged leaners via the Turing scheme will be allocated a travel grant so are not permitted to apply for the SFE travel grant as well. If you have any specific questions in relation to the SFE travel grant and Turing, please contact Student Finance England.

Scholarships for Excellence – Hong Kong
UK passport holders who want to study in Hong Kong can apply for scholarships funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills worth up to £3,000.
The scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to students who can demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and the potential to make a substantial contribution to the wellbeing of the international community.
UNESCO Fellowships Programmes
A global scholarship scheme that is designed to offer financial support for people who want to further their education overseas.
